Volleyball Recap: Lake Highland Prep Takes a Loss

After flying high against Crooms Academy last Tuesday, Lake Highland Prep came back down to earth. The Highlanders came up short against the Cypress Creek Bears on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Highlanders have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

While Lake Highland Prep ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-23.

Cypress Creek found their leader in sophomore Kidiel Maldonado, who had five digs and two aces. Maldonado is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 20 every time he's taken the court this season.

Lake Highland Prep's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Cypress Creek, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Coincidentally, Lake Highland Prep and Cypress Creek will both be playing Freedom the next time they take the court. The Bears will host the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Highlanders will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
