Basketball Recap: Fair Lawn Comes Up Short

Fair Lawn lost against West Milford back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Fair Lawn Cutters fell 47-40 to the West Milford Highlanders. While losing is never fun, the Cutters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Highlanders are ranked 86th).

West Milford was led to victory by Laurel Space and Adison Arciniega. Space dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Arciniega went 6-for-9 en route to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Arciniega a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sara Wardlaw, who posted six points and six boards.

Fair Lawn's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for West Milford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Fair Lawn will square off against Union City on Thursday. As for West Milford, they will head out on the road to take on Jefferson Township at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
