Basketball Recap: Mckenna Blaudow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond over Mattoon

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond lost against Mattoon back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mattoon Greenwave. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mckenna Blaudow, who posted seven points. The dominant performance gave Blaudow a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Monts, who had nine points and six rebounds.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond's record is now 3-6. As for Mattoon, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.

Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond and Mattoon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond (ranked 451st) will meet Sullivan (ranked 93rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Mattoon (ranked 446th) will meet Taylorville (ranked 177th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
