The Calvary Christian Academy Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the American Heritage Stallions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
American Heritage's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Calvary Christian Academy hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Eagles never let Pine Crest get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory last Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.
Reese Mittauer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Addison Mittauer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Sofia Fine also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Calvary Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .500 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, American Heritage made sure to put some runs up on the board against Atlantic on Tuesday. The Stallions put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 20-6 victory.
Victoria Kovic was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Briyanna Dodin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Calvary Christian Academy's record now sits at 5-3. As for American Heritage, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Calvary Christian Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like American Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Calvary Christian Academy skirted past American Heritage 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
