Softball Recap: Carroll Has No Trouble Against Benton Central

Carroll won the last time they faced Benton Central and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cougars blew past the Bison 18-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Charlotte Kingery was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Carroll got a big performance out of Ellie Perry, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, Perry posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Olivia Stankard was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Carroll now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Benton Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carroll will head out to take on Lewis Cass at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Benton Central, they will venture away from home to square off against South Newton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
