Recap: DCP Alum Rock Lobos vs. El Primero Lobos
The DCP Alum Rock Lobos had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They managed a 54-48 victory over El Primero. For DCP Alum Rock, this counts as revenge for the 42-34 defeat El Primero walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Tony Clarida was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Isidro Cigarroa Fores was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Several Lobos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JOSH CHAVEZ, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. CHAVEZ is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was KEVIN CHIQUETE, who scored 17 points.
DCP Alum Rock pushed their record up to 8-7 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for El Primero, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
DCP Alum Rock will head out on the road to take on Mountain View Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Mountain View Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Monday. As for El Primero, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Palo Alto Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
