Football Game Preview: Jackson Prep Patriots vs. Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets + Official Tickets

Jackson Prep is a perfect 5-0 against Oak Forest Academy since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Patriots will be playing at home against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. Jackson Prep will be strutting in after a win while Oak Forest Academy will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Jackson Prep against Silliman Institute as the squad secured a 52-6 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 26 points or more this season.

Wade Smith had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 102 yards and a pair of TDs. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Jackson Prep is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Luke Essary, who threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.

Jackson Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brogen McClsukey, Clark Smith, and Asher Reynolds picked up one apiece. Reynolds got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Oak Forest Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 17-13 to Cathedral.

Jackson Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.6 points over those games. As for Oak Forest Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Jackson Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Oak Forest Academy in their previous matchup back in September of 2019, winning 27-19. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Yellowjackets' John Henry White, who rushed for 179 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 93 yards and one TD.
