Volleyball Recap: Southside Falls Short Against Ranked Cabot

Southside faced Cabot in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Mavericks fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.

Leighton Cross paced Southside's offense, picking up eight kills. Cross got some help from Julia Suggs and her ten assists.

With the loss, Southside broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 18-7-1. As for Cabot, the win was the 21st in a row for them, bringing their record up to 28-1.

Looking ahead, Southside will host Northside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cabot, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Bentonville West on the 11th.
