Basketball Recap: Cerro Gordo/Bement Comes Up Short

After flying high against Urbana University last Saturday, Cerro Gordo/Bement came back down to earth. The Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos came up short against the Arcola Purple Riders on Tuesday, falling 59-38. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 577th, while the Purple Riders are ranked 95th).

Cerro Gordo/Bement's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Arcola, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cerro Gordo/Bement will be home for the holidays to greet Fisher at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Arcola, they will host Neoga at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
