Football Recap: Armani Dukes' Menacing Defense Leads Camas over Battle Ground

Camas won the last time they faced Battle Ground and things went their way on Friday too. The Papermakers strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 22-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Papermakers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Tigers are ranked 85th).

Tyson Ruggiero produced another solid performance rushing for 146 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 170 yards and one TD. Thor Brody was another key player, gaining 138 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Camas was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Camas didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Armani Dukes, Mason Davis, and Luke Parbon picked up one apiece.

Camas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Battle Ground, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camas will venture away from home to challenge Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Papermakers will be up against the Titans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.43 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Battle Ground, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Skyview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
