Softball Recap: Patrick County Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Patrick County owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Dan River Wildcats by a score of 3-0. The three-run effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Jenna Woods, who gave up just five hits to keep Dan River off the board. Woods has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lilly Hazelwood was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Patrick County's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. As for Dan River, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Patrick County will head out to square off against Chatham at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dan River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tunstall at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tunstall will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Dan River surely won't give up without a fight.
