Softball Game Preview: Dwight Trojans vs. Lexington Minutemen

The Dwight Trojans will face off against the Lexington Minutemen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Friday, Dwight didn't have quite enough to beat Herscher and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Madi Ely spent all 11 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dori Wilson and Mckenna Woodcock did some serious damage despite the final result: Wilson went 4-for-5 with one double, while Woodcock went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. Sarah Parker was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Lexington nor Sacred Heart-Griffin made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Minutemen fell 6-1 to the Cyclones.

Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Dwight, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
