Soccer Game Preview: Southeast vs. Northwest

Southeast is 0-7 against Northwest since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Golden Buffalo will head out to challenge the Grizzlies. Southeast has given up an average of 4.4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southeast is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to Kapaun Mt. Carmel. While losing is never fun, Southeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas soccer rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Kapaun Mt. Carmel are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Northwest and South faced off in a cross-town battle on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' defense stepped up to hand the Titans an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Northwest, who have now won four contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Northwest's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6-1. As for Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Southeast came up short against Northwest in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Golden Buffalo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
