Baseball Recap: Cordia Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Cordia took on Betsy Layne on Saturday. The Lions lost 14-4 to the Bobcats. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Cordia's defeat dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Betsy Layne, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cordia will venture away from home to take on Pineville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mountain Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.13 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Betsy Layne, they will head out to face off against Phelps at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
