Softball Recap: Eau Gallie Drops Highest Score of Season Against Palm Bay

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eau Gallie). They put the hurt on the Palm Bay Pirates with a sharp 27-0 win on Wednesday. The Commodores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Evie Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Eau Gallie got a massive performance out of Mary Winans, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Winans a new career-high. Hannah Leech was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Eau Gallie and bumps their season record up to 11-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Palm Bay, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Eau Gallie will take on Doral Academy at 6:00 p.m. on April 3. As for Palm Bay, they will face off against Cocoa Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
