Softball Recap: Mcmichael Falls Short of West Wilkes in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, McMichael couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the West Wilkes Blackhawks by a score of 11-10 on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Phoenix, who until this match were averaging 4.07 runs allowed.

Lindsay Redmon spent all 11.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight earned (and three unearned) runs on 15 hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Kora Ingle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kortnie Fletcher, who went 3-for-6 with one home run.

McMichael moved to 23-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for West Wilkes, the win was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-3.
