Basketball Game Preview: Huss Huskies vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

The Huss Huskies and the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Huss is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.

Huss' tournament run continued when they took on Queen's Grant on Saturday. The matchup between Huss and Queen's Grant didn't end well, with Huss falling 66-47.

Despite their loss, Huss saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaleel Smith, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards, was perhaps the best of all. Smith is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips was another key player, putting up 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Even though they lost, Huss smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hickory Ridge suffered their biggest defeat since February 6th on Saturday. They came up short against Victory Christian Center, falling 82-62.

Hickory Ridge now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Huss, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Huss didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hickory Ridge when the teams last played back in December of 2019, but they still walked away with a 67-62 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Hickory Ridge's Jordan Marsh, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 20 points along with seven boards and five assists. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be easier for Huss to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
