Sidney waltzed into their matchup on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They pulled ahead with a 44-43 photo finish over the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats. Given the Team's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Bobcats are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bainbridge-Guilford's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marissa Mayo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalyn Winans, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Sidney's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Bainbridge-Guilford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Sidney didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-40 victory against Unadilla Valley on the 5th. As for Bainbridge-Guilford, they will square off against Deposit-Hancock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bainbridge-Guilford is facing Deposit-Hancock at the right time seeing as Deposit-Hancock is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
