Preview: J.R. Tucker Tigers vs. Hermitage Panthers
J.R. Tucker is 0-9 against Hermitage since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The J.R. Tucker Tigers will play host again and welcome the Hermitage Panthers, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. J.R. Tucker comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
J.R. Tucker fell victim to Glen Allen's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Jaguars 42-0. While losing is never fun, J.R. Tucker can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Glen Allen is ranked 33rd).
Meanwhile, Hermitage's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 7-6 to Varina.
J.R. Tucker's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Glen Allen, Thomas Jefferson, and Freeman. As for Hermitage, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
J.R. Tucker was dealt a bruising 35-8 defeat at the hands of Hermitage when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can J.R. Tucker avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
