Recap: Andrew Jackson Volunteers vs. York Prep Patriots

The Andrew Jackson Volunteers stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat York Prep 96-27 at home. Andrew Jackson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Tamia Watkins was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 36 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Andrew Jackson's points. Ayona Alexander was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.

The win was the eighth in a row for Andrew Jackson, bringing their record for this year to 14-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for York Prep, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Andrew Jackson will head out on the road to square off against Chesterfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chesterfield is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Andrew Jackson a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. York Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cheraw at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Cheraw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday.
