Volleyball Recap: Mesquite Takes a Loss

Mesquite and Estrella Foothills squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Mesquite had to settle for second. They came up short against the Wolves, falling 3-0. Considering the last time the Wildcats couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Mesquite was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Estrella Foothills work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 26-24, 25-19.

Estrella Foothills can attribute much of their success to Cruz Alvarado, who had seven digs and two aces. What's more, Alvarado posted three assists, the most he's had over his last eight matches.

Mesquite has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Estrella Foothills, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-17.

As of now, neither Mesquite nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
