Preview: Treasure Coast Titans vs. Centennial Eagles
Treasure Coast is 2-8 against Centennial since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Treasure Coast Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Centennial Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Treasure Coast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
Treasure Coast unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak. They fell just short of Martin County by a score of 33-31. Treasure Coast has not had much luck with Martin County recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite their loss, Treasure Coast saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ariel Horne, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Ware, who scored 7 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Centennial entered their tilt with Palm Beach Lakes with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Centennial took down Palm Beach Lakes 57-41 on Wednesday.
Centennial's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jada Parson, who scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds, and Jailyn Williams, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least 25% of Centennial's points. Another player making a difference was Arianna Knapp, who scored 9 points.
Their wins bumped Treasure Coast to 4-2 and Martin County to 5-0.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Treasure Coast have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 16.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Centennial struggles in that department as they've been even better at 26 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Treasure Coast opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-38 defeat to Centennial. Thankfully for Treasure Coast, Gwen Miller (who scored 15 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
