Basketball Recap: Steele Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Keystone typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Steele proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Keystone Wildcats by a score of 63-50. While the Comets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Keystone's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Goran, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Cowling, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points and four steals.

Steele has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Keystone, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1.

When Steele and Keystone next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Steele will try to stop Strongsville's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Keystone will try to stop Firelands' four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
