Preview: Loretto Mustangs vs. Cornersville Bulldogs
Loretto is 7-0 against Cornersville since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Loretto Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Cornersville Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Loretto is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Loretto ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They secured a 49-44 W over Lawrence County.
It was another big night for Ally Weathers, who scored 29 points. The matchup was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Weathers, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-34, which was the final score in Cornersville's tilt against Summertown on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Cornersville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Summertown is ranked 40th).
Loretto's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Cornersville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Loretto strolled past Cornersville in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 60-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loretto since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
