Basketball Recap: Chapman Piles Up the Points Against Chesnee

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Chapman on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Chesnee Eagles out of the water with a 68-22 final score. That 46 point margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Leading Chapman to victory were Krislyn Wilder and Annastyn Smith. Wilder went 6 for 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to eight assists and five boards, while Smith went 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kara Twitty, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points.

Despite the defeat, Chesnee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dacie Green posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Olivia Tolleson was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.

The win (which was Chapman's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Chesnee, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chapman will take on Blue Ridge in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at. As for Chesnee, they will face off against Brashier Middle College Charter at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
