The Mission Bay Buccaneers will take on the Coronado Islanders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Coronado will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Mission Bay extended their winning streak to eight on Wednesday. The Buccaneers were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over San Diego. The Buccaneers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Abby Nelson made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mission Bay got a massive performance out of Angelie Pablos, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Pablos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Horton, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Mission Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Coronado got themselves on the board against Crawford on Wednesday, but Crawford never followed suit. They blew past the Colts 12-0. The Islanders haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Chloe Fledderjohn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fledderjohn was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Parker Thompson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Cali Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Mission Bay pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Mission Bay hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Coronado struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mission Bay beat Coronado 4-1 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Do the Buccaneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Islanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
