Football Recap: The Webb Schools Gauls vs. Silver Valley Trojans
The Webb Schools lost against Silver Valley back in September of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Webb Schools Gauls were just a hair shy of victory and fell 14-13 to the Silver Valley Trojans. The Gauls haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Aaden Mozia and Kaj Grayson certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Mozia gained 191 total yards, while Grayson threw for 103 yards and a touchdown. Mozia's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 103 rushing yards dating back to last season.
The Webb Schools wouldn't let Silver Valley keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Joshua Akoji, Jimmie Brown, and James Base picked up one apiece. The dominant performance also gave Base a new career-high in rushing yards.
Even though they lost, The Webb Schools was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Silver Valley found their leader in underclassman Marek Allen, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those 149 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Allen.
The Webb Schools' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Silver Valley, their record now sits at 2-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Webb Schools will head out to take on Santa Rosa Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Silver Valley, they are on the road again on Friday to play Riverside Prep at 7:00 p.m.
