Football Recap: William Penn Takes a Loss + How To Watch

William Penn faced Cape Henlopen in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Colonials had to suffer through a 35-7 loss at the hands of the Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colonials of the 42-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2022.

Cameron Gardner threw for 109 yards on nine of 24 attempts. Mark Moore was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards.

Leading Cape Henlopen to victory were Jameson Tingle and Ozmeer Batson. Tingle rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown, while Batson rushed for 54 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Batson has posted since back in October of 2024.

William Penn's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cape Henlopen, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

William Penn will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Mark's at 12:00 p.m. on the 20th. As for Cape Henlopen, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-14 loss against Lake Forest on the 12th.
