Vaughn Beresford turned in nothing short of a gem on Wednesday, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his third in a row with nine or more strikeouts. This year, he has an ERA of 3.03 over 37 innings pitched.

Even though Beresford couldn't lead Smithtown Christian over Hampton Bays, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sadly, Beresford's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Knights' four-game streak of wins on the road. With the streak broken, Beresford and the Knights surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Thursday's match.
