Volleyball Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

If Southside was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of North Pitt last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Seahawks came up short against the Panthers on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Seahawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

While Southside ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-17.

Madilynn Moore paced Southside's offense, picking up five kills. Moore got some help from Annalynn Silverthorne and her six assists. Silverthorne and Moore didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Southside has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. North Pitt's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8.

Southside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Howard on the 4th. As for North Pitt, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against North Johnston on the 4th.
