Preview: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Liberty Mountaineers
Doddridge County has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Liberty Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Saturday, Doddridge County took a serious blow against Williamstown, falling 67-39. Doddridge County has not had much luck with Williamstown recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tenley Paugh, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberly Adams, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, sadly, Liberty is still looking for their first win of the season after 19 matches. They were beaten by East Fairmont 80-38 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while East Fairmont is ranked third).
Doddridge County's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 0-19 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Doddridge County strolled past Liberty in their previous matchup back in December of 2015 by a score of 43-28. Will Doddridge County repeat their success, or does Liberty have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
