Preview: Hudson Cobras vs. Hernando Leopards
The Hudson Cobras will head out on the road to square off against the Hernando Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hudson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
After only 19 points in their last matchup, Hudson made sure to put some points up on the board against Pasco. Hudson simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pasco 56-18 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Hudson has posted yet this season.
Hudson found their leader in underclassman Veronica Uhrig, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Uhrig has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Grace Rutherford, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Hernando suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Weeki Wachee by a score of 56-54. Hernando has not had much luck with Weeki Wachee recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kayla Holloman, who scored 18 points. Aislin Ruppe was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Hudson's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Hernando, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
Hudson took a serious blow against Hernando in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 75-33. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Holloman, who scored 36 points. Now that Hudson knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time?
