For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Spooner and Northwestern have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Rails put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rails also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.
Evan Potaczek was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mason Sobralski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Shamari Fahie, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Spooner's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Northwestern, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
