Baseball Recap: Spooner Has No Trouble Against Northwestern

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Spooner and Northwestern have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Rails put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rails also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Evan Potaczek was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Sobralski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Shamari Fahie, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Spooner's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Northwestern, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Spooner is set to challenge their familiar foe Cameron at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Northwestern will square off against rival Ladysmith at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
