Baseball Game Preview: Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls vs. Artesia Bulldogs

The Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls will challenge the Artesia Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Carlsbad's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Artesia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Carlsbad's win against Goddard wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cavemen/Cavegirls won by a run and slipped past the Rockets 3-2. The Cavemen/Cavegirls haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Artesia waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Coyotes a 14-0 shutout. That looming 14-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

Carlsbad's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Artesia, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

Carlsbad was able to grind out a solid victory over Artesia in their previous meeting back in March, winning 9-5. Do the Cavemen/Cavegirls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
