Softball Recap: St. Pius X Comes Up Short

St. Pius X was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 15-6 to the Organ Mountain Knights.

Sophia Trujillo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Diamor Ibarra-Villegas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

St. Pius X's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Organ Mountain, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Pius X will face off against Roswell at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. St. Pius X has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Organ Mountain, they are taking a road trip to take on Farmington at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Organ Mountain knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Farmington likes a good challenge.
