A feisty cat fight will be fought as Chapel Hill Tigers challenge Athens Drive Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chapel Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Chapel Hill will bounce into Friday's match after beating Northwood, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Everything went Chapel Hill's way against Northwood on Wednesday as Chapel Hill made off with an 18-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Alexandra (Kes) Duncan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Duncan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Chapel Hill let Channing Clark and Isabella Chupp run wild. Clark went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Chupp went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Clark has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Penzner, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Chapel Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Athens Drive was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 13-3 to Jordan.
Cora Driscoll was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Athens Drive's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Chapel Hill, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Athens Drive's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Chapel Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Athens Drive, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Chapel Hill keep running through batters, or will Athens Drive buck the trend?
