Baseball Recap: Boardman Gets the Win

Boardman played in-conference for the first time on Monday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons by a score of 6-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Boardman got a great performance from Collin Resetar as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Resetar has posted since April 4th.

At the plate, Tyler Kirlik was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Boardman is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Vince Butto, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one double.

Boardman lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Boardman's record now sits at 5-8. As for Austintown-Fitch, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Boardman will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
