Baseball Game Preview: Penncrest Lions vs. Malvern Prep Friars

Penncrest is 0-6 against Malvern Prep since May of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Friars at 4:00 p.m.

Penncrest is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They fell 4-1 to Radnor.

Penncrest got a good showing from Connor Finan, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Finan hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March.

At the plate, Penncrest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Punzo, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Malvern Prep came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Tide. The result was nothing new for the Friars, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Malvern Prep pushed their record up to 26-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Penncrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.
