Softball Game Preview: Elysian Fields Yellowjackets vs. Carlisle Indians

For the second straight game, Elysian Fields will face off against Carlisle. The Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Elysian Fields knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Carlisle likes a good challenge.

Elysian Fields was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carlisle on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Indians a 15-0 shutout. The Yellowjackets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22, 2024.

Taylor Youngblood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Elysian Fields let Madi Giddens and Julie Lowery run wild. Giddens went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple, while Lowery scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Lowery a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madi Owens, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Elysian Fields was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Carlisle is on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22. As for Elysian Fields, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-20.
