Softball Game Preview: Monroe Central Golden Bears vs. Northeastern Knights

The Monroe Central Golden Bears will face off against the Northeastern Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Monroe Central has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monroe Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Union City by a score of 14-13 on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost four in a row.

Laura Walker led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleiyah Davis, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Northeastern couldn't beat Centerville on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Knights fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-7.

Alexis Russell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Isabella Peed was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Northeastern's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Monroe Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16.
