Basketball Recap: Cedar Ridge Comes Up Short

Cedar Ridge extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 45-24 to the Williams Bulldogs. If the Fighting Red Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 48-32 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Williams, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points over those games.

Williams found their leader in sophomore Malia Scott, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 22 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Salem Hatfield, who posted seven points and four steals.

Coming up, Cedar Ridge will take on East Chapel Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Williams, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-41 win against Providence Grove on the 2nd.
