Baseball Recap: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Berean Christian Eagles

Mt. Diablo extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-13 in the process. They came up short against the Berean Christian Eagles, falling 8-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-0 on Tuesday.

As for Berean Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Berean Christian's part, Luke Upshaw made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Upshaw has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Berean Christian got a massive performance out of Josh Werner, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Werner is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Max McTighe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mt. Diablo is set to square off against their familiar foe Las Lomas at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Berean Christian will take on rival Miramonte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.2, the Matadors 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
