Baseball Recap: Lunenburg Gets the Win

Lunenburg lost to Leicester back in June of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Blue Knights had just enough and edged out the Wolverines 8-6.

The team relied heavily on Gabe Wright, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brady Kelly also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lunenburg is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Leicester, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Lunenburg will welcome Clinton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Gaels' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Blue Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Leicester, they will take on Quaboag Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
