Baseball Recap: El Paso Comes Up Short

After flying high against Estacado on Thursday, El Paso came back down to earth. The El Paso Tigers fell just short of the Liberty Patriots by a score of 17-16 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (15), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

El Paso has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. The victory (which was Liberty's third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.

Coincidentally, El Paso and Liberty will both be playing Lubbock the next time they take the field. El Paso will head out to face Lubbock at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while Liberty will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
