Baseball Game Preview: Western Guilford Hornets vs. Grimsley Whirlies

Western Guilford hasn't had much luck against Grimsley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hornets will face off against the Whirlies at 6:00 p.m. Western Guilford has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Western Guilford is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They lost 17-8 to Ragsdale.

Meanwhile, Grimsley had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They never let the Nighthawks get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Not much got past Jacob Benbow, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Northern Guilford off the board. Benbow has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gabe Doolen was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Western Guilford's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Grimsley, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4.

Western Guilford suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Grimsley when the teams last played back in March. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
