Football Game Preview: Black Hawk/Warren IL vs. Riverdale Chieftains

Black Hawk/Warren IL will head out to challenge the Riverdale Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Black Hawk/Warren IL will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Black Hawk/Warren IL's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 48-0 victory over Pecatonica/Argyle. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Black Hawk/Warren IL's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Pecatonica/Argyle is ranked 356th).

Black Hawk/Warren IL's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Woodruff led the charge by rushing for 132 yards and two scores on only seven carries. Woodruff's longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Podnar, who rushed for 74 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Black Hawk/Warren IL was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 384 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverdale). They breezed past Boscobel to the tune of 42-0 on Friday. The Chieftains have beaten the Bulldogs the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Riverdale picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Black Hawk/Warren IL, their record now sits at 7-0.
