Baseball Recap: University Beats Sterling for Their Fifth Straight Victory

University extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 13-3 in the process. They never let the Sterling Tigers get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Gage Viken's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Will Korby was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Medardo Abrego, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: University lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

As for Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. The game marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Sterling's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caysen Bamford, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Looking ahead, University will take on Prospect Ridge Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sterling, they will square off against Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
