A feisty cat fight will be fought when Tigers challenges the Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alcona is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Alcona is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 67-12 victory over Heston Academy on the road. Considering the Tigers have won five contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Alcona's win came down to the chemistry between Garrett Somers and his top target Karsen Gonyea. Somers threw for 253 yards and six touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes while Gonyea picked up 170 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Gonyea also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending a pass. William Liebler was in the mix as well, providing Alcona with two touchdowns.

Alcona didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ricky Schott and Gavin Dellar. What's more, Schott also racked up 11 rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in September of 2023.

Meanwhile, Whittemore-Prescott entered their game against Mio-Au Sable on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Whittemore-Prescott had to suffer through a 50-16 loss at the hands of Mio-Au Sable. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alcona's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Whittemore-Prescott, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Alcona against Whittemore-Prescott in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, as the squad secured a 54-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alcona since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
