Football Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Faith Lutheran + How To Watch

Foothill faced Faith Lutheran in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Falcons took a 30-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 43-22 to the Crusaders when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Foothill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Dobbs, who rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 117 yards and one TD on only ten passes. Dobbs' passing game has become a key predictor of the Falcons' success: the team is 5-2 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Foothill also got help from Tyce Mauro, who showed off his sure hands for 103 receiving yards.

Leading Faith Lutheran to victory were Aipa Kuloloia and Justin Robbins. Kuloloia gained 58 total yards and three touchdowns, while Robbins rushed for 103 yards.

With the defeat, Foothill broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-4. As for Faith Lutheran, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Foothill will take on Mojave at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Faith Lutheran, they will face off against Desert Oasis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
