Basketball Game Preview: West Holt Huskies vs. Plainview Pirates

West Holt is 10-0 against Plainview since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The West Holt Huskies will be playing at home against the Plainview Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

West Holt is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing North Central: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that West Holt blew North Central out of the water with a 65-28 final score. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Lincoln Konrad continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games he's played. Andrew Rentschler was another key player, going 7 for 16 en route to 18 points.

Meanwhile, Plainview had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past the Bees with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Bees are ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Plainview's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for West Holt, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

West Holt beat Plainview 51-39 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will West Holt repeat their success, or does Plainview have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
